Toni King is an author, columnist, and radio and TV personality who has spent more than 20 years as a top sales leader in the Medicare and health insurance fields.
I’m Toni King, and I live in Houston, TX. I’m a proud American who bleeds red, white, and blue. I’m a native Houstonian, and my family’s restaurant, Angelo’s Fisherman’s Wharf, was a Houston landmark.
My turning point in starting to work guiding people through the Medicare Maze came in 2009. A gentleman in Greenville, Mississippi, called Social Security and used the wrong wording, and they told him to sign the back of his card and send it in. He went into the hospital the next month, had a stent put in his heart, and owed $10,000. When he called me, he only had 60 days left. I told him to get in his car, drive to the Social Security office, and enroll in Part B. He did, and the plan came back and paid the $10,000. It’s all about the rules.
After that, I realized people don’t just need an agent. They need an advocate. So my role changed from insurance agent to Medicare advocate, and now it’s not just my occupation, it’s my mission.
It started when I took the Medicare & You handbook and put it into what I like to call people terms, so the average person can actually understand it. That mission has never changed.
You’ve heard my story. Now let’s figure out yours. If your situation is unique, or you’d just like to talk it through with someone who understands Medicare, one conversation can tell you exactly where you stand.
